Gold-plated Scarab bracelet by MD Burnette
This type of beetle was very symbolic to the ancient Egyptians, representing rebirth and renewal.
The scarab was for the ancient Egyptians a symbol of luck, hope and restoration of life.
They believed that the sun was pushed across the sky every day by a giant scarab, the god Khepri.
Khepri the Sun God, is a form of the sun god, Ra.He is usually depicted as a man with a beetle on his head or as a head.
He rolled the sun across the sky, just as a dung beetle rolls a ball of dung.
Its name comes from the Egyptian word, kheprer or "to become".
